Airbag igniter driver side n95

I'm not sure I'd want to be checking the resistance of an explosive charge In addition, the connectors to these devices have a shorting mechanism that comes into play whenever it's unplugged Last edited: Feb 22, BlackCloud Well-known member.

I battled the airbag light problem for over 2 years with an 06 Jetta TDI. First it really was the clockspring, but I fixed the underseat connector at the same time to make sure of no marginal connections in the wire. Just over a year later the same code came up and thinking it was another clockspring but that did not correct it. I searched all over for answers but was not going to a dealer. Because my day job always gets involved with electro-hydraulics and heavy machinery diesel fuel systems , I started exploring the cars wiring and grounding system.

In the end, I found some engine compartment grounds under the air filter box and battery which needed to be cleaned up. I went around the car and pulled every ground wire I could find and polished them up and put them back together with anti-seize, cleared the codes and it worked very well after that. The wiring on most new cars, trucks, machines, etc. Old thread. I'm also struggling with these codes. Do you remember the other locations of the grounds that you cleaned up by any chance? His last activity was over a year ago. In addition to under the battery tray, there is the main ground at the top of the bell housing, and additional grounds under the dashboard and even a couple on the steering column I think.

What is the actual code? The same as the PO or another airbag code? The seat belt connectors also go bad and pop codes. I had that happen when I swerved to avoid a gigantic raccoon earlier this year.

I've checked connection between clockspring and module 1KAH , not sure whether this module had previously been replaced as the yellow sticker is removed. Is there any other checks I could do. You could check display group if you have a VW scan tool. It could indicate if it's the igniter. Also, have you had the steering wheel off any time recently? Can you measure the ignitor circuit resistance from the disconnected airbag control module harness connector to the disconnected airbag igniter harness connector at the steering wheel? What is the measurement in Ohms? From either end of the ignitor circiut, is there continuity to ground? If there is, what is the resistance measured to ground?

Do you mean for me to disconnect the harness at the airbag control module itself?

Now it came on when I had passangers in the back for the first time! I've read a lot of stuff around it being the connector? Before I go and unplug it, clean it out and blow my arm off by setting the air bag off. Thought i'd ask how is best to do this? Obviously I don't want to set the air bag off! So is it disconnect battery, do the work. Plug battery back in? Also anyone had any success stories with this code?

Just need some advice on the best way to fix the problem. If I am right in assuming its the plug under the seat. Cheers Jay. Birchall Dick Chown Award Hi To be completely safe the approach disconnect the battery, wait 10 or 15 minutes to let everything discharge then it should be safe. But treat airbags as mini hand grenades and you will give them the respect they deserve.

Most the very least make sure that you are well away from where the airbag is when disconnecting or reconnecting it. Better safe than sorry. I agree. I don't want an airbag going off for both safety and finance reasons! No thanks! In terms of the code.
