The GE microwave was starting to emit a burnt wire smell so we immediately stopped using it.
The old microwave has a smaller internal capacity and no turntable. We did not want to spend a lot of money since we will be moving in a couple years but we needed something that was a bit larger than what we had and the turntable was definitely a needed upgrade from what we had.
We have had the new microwave for about a month and it works as advertised. Easy to use with simple to understand controls. We specifically bought a Whirlpool because of low frequency of repairs mentioned in Consumer Reports product reviews and the price was right.
